Hey everyone, I’m Hiba! I have been given the opportunity to be John Fraser Secondary School’s MIST ambassador this year and I’m super excited! Even though our school’s population is majorly Muslim, we have never been allowed to participate in MIST. Last year was our first year attending and it was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done. Not only did we attend Regionals but we also had a great time at Nationals.

Last year our team consisted of 10 people with 7 of the people being grade 12s. InshAllah this year we are bringing close to 30 people because of all the positive feedback from last year’s event. MIST is an amazing opportunity for students to showcase their talents and discover themselves. MIST creates amazing friendships and by the end of it, your team is no longer a team but your family. It’s a event that creates unity in the Muslim youth and brings people together, not just to compete but to have fun. We may not be the most experienced team or the biggest team or the flashiest but we hope to have a amazing time and who knows, maybe win a few more awards along the way.
